Hello Fediverse,
I’m a 50+ year old junior developer. Junior because I just recently switched to work as a programmer. While during the eighties I had a lot of fun with the popular home computers and during the 2000s I made a living out of operating a bunch of Linux- and *BSD-Servers for several clients, now I’m a newbie again. In the time between I did a lot of other things, including studying philosophy and being a taxi driver for several years. :)
Topics I’m interested in are free software, privacy, digital self-defense and autonomy, civil rights, ecology, cycling and being in nature and of course about live, social living, public transport, urban gardening, … PLUS just shitposting.
I write about those topics with people on the internet since I discovered my love for computer networks around ‘97 when I stumbled upon Slackware Linux, IRC, mailing lists and the Usenet. As the Usenet slowly faded away and finally died, I tried to use a lot of other platforms: Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, Mastodon, Twitter again.
I think Friendica might be the one I was looking for. Federated infrastructure, you’re able to host your own instance, you can write sort of blog posts and are able to discuss topics without being limited to two-hundred-something characters, nice and clean UI and the best: community driven without being spied on for the benefit of the advertisement industry.
I’m going to post mostly in german and sometimes in english too. And sometimes I’ll be going to translate a german article to english later on.

Können #Elektroauto|s überhaupt umweltfreundlich sein? Der DBV würde sich sehr wünschen, wenn #Verkehrsvermeidung durch wohnortnahe Infrastruktur eine größere Rolle spielen würde.

Das gesamte Thema muss neu gedacht werden. Wohnen im grünen und arbeiten, einkaufen und vieles andere in der Stadt erzeugt Verkehr. Dörfer müssen wieder mehr als Wohnsilos sein. Ganz ohne Verkehr geht es nicht, aber dafür im Schnitt 1,5 T Blech verwenden? Nicht effizient. Geht mit 🚌 🚊 🚲 und 🚶 besser (nur nicht unter den aktuellen Rahmenbedingungen). Viele reduzieren die #Verkehrswende auf eine Antriebswende. Das ist zu kurz gedacht.
@Ulrich Auer :bike_verified:@Bahnkunden-Verband das schlimme ist aber, dass wir diese Probleme schon sehr lange kennen. In der Stadtplanung ist das spätestens seit den 90er Jahren Stand der Wissenschaft, dass wir verdichten müssen. Leider sind wir dem (Alp-)Traum vom Einfamilienhaus mit Garten und 3 Autos inzwischen so nah wie nie, mit den bekannten Problemen. Niemand traut sich das ehrlich zu sagen und drum diskutieren wir jetzt halt über e-Autos damit wir das breuhigende Gefühl bekommen, "das Richtige" tun zu können, ohne offensichtlich destruktive und unsoziale Privilegien aufgeben zu müssen.

@Macnutzer94 Wäre das nicht eine Idee, vier- und fünfspurigen Schnellstraßen, die in dieser Kapazität nur maximal zwei Stunden pro Tag gebraucht werden, einfach auf zwei Spuren zurückzubauen? Passiert doch bei #Bahn mit dem Hinweis auf die Wirtschaftlichkeit auch jeden Tag. Da würde Fläche freiwerden ...

Bin dabei. 😉 Auf der frei werdenden Fläche lässt sich dann eine Straßenbahn- oder Busspur einrichten, damit die immer demonstrativ am Stau vorbei fahren können, eine Radspur (abgetrennt durch einen üppig bepflanzten Grünstreifen, der Dreck und Lärm reduziert)...
Danke, sehr interessanter Beitrag. Vielleicht können #ELV - #Elektroleichtfahrzeuge ein sinnvoller Schritt sein. Während die Entwicklung vom einfachen PKW hin zum tonnenschweren Radpanzer geht, welcher im Stadtkriegsmodus in Sekunden von null auf zweihundertfünfzig beschleunigt, sollten Fahrzeuge eigentlich kleiner und bedarfsgerecht gebaut werden. Tempolimit 100 auf der Autobahn würde die PS-Boliden sinnlos machen. (Wobei das unsicher ist, siehe USA.)

Ein Freund ist jemand, dem man all das dumme Zeug sagen kann, das einem in den Sinn kommt. Bei Bekannten ist man sich stets bewußt, daß sie ein nicht ganz wirklichkeitsgetreues Bild von einem haben, und dementsprechend gibt man sich. Viele Ehen spielen sich zwischen Bekannten ab. Manchmal braucht man mit einem Menschen nur drei Stunden zusammen zu sein und hat schon einen Freund gewonnen. Ein anderer bleibt dreißig Jahre ein Bekannter.

Ich bin zur Zeit ziemlich geflasht davon, dass man sich hier als Kassenpatient im ganz normalen Krankenhaus sein Frühstück und Abendessen vollkommen individuell aus einer riesigen Auswahl zusammenstellen lassen kann. Darüber hinaus kommt noch mehrmals am Tag jemand rein und fragt, ob man noch einen Tee oder Kaffee möchte. Ist das mittlerweile überall so oder bin ich hier besonders gut aufgehoben?
A hospital in Essen, Germany. I was surprised about the quality and individuality of the breakfast and dinner. I'm not very experienced with hospitals, that's why I asked if it is standard nowadays, but unfortunatly it's not, I'm just lucky with this particular hospital (which - in contrast to most others - doesn't belong to a big enterprise corp).
Was it the word „Kassenpatient“? „Kasse“ means "cash point" but also "fund". In this context the meaning is that I'm on statutory/public health insurance in contrast to a private insurance (which is the case for the vast majority of people in germany).

Die TK war das wohl nicht. Hier kann ich selbsttätig erstellte Bescheinigungen tatsächlich direkt im PDF-Format herunterladen.
Das ist mal ausnahmsweise eine ungewöhnlich treffend formulierte PM der Essener Polizei:

Hm, im anthroposophischen(!) Altenheim, in dem meine Mutter lebt, herrscht auf den Gängen FFP2-Pflicht und man muss am Eingang einen Schnelltest machen. Das Personal behält durchgängig die Masken auf.
Im ach so renommierten Alfred-Krupp-Krankenhaus trägt so gut wie niemand vom Pflegepersonal Maske, von den Patienten erst recht niemand.

Get your own domain name! Run your own e-mail server! Run your own website! Yes, it needs a bit of work but it gives you freedom from the Megacorps. If we don't stand up and take the internet back, we will lose so much. Take your time, but make it a goal to learn this stuff! Not all of you, I get it. But every new e-mail server helps 😀

sure, but the gmail address won’t cost you domain fee for the rest of your life. I’m not a gmail fan either. Just wanted to mention the eternal cost topic to be taken into account too.
@bricks More freedom comes at a (low) price in this case. Think of all those poor people who lost their t-online e-mail address when they switched to a different DSL provider ;)

Im Biomarktregal stehen Durchschlafen-Tee, Guten-Morgen-Tee, Im-Regen-Tanzen-Tee, Familienzeit-Tee, Durchatmen-im-Wald-Tee, Schönen-Feierabend-Tee, Guten-Abend-Tee, Süße-Träume-Tee und Innere-Balance-Tee. Das ist mir alles viel zu idyllisch. Ich vermisse Alle-bekloppt-Tee, Lächle-du-kannst-sie-nicht-alle-töten-Tee, Ich-glaub-es-hackt-Tee und Alter-was-IST-mit-den-Leuten-Tee.
